The Riding

Muhu Island is a 430 million year old coral island, nestled in the Baltic Sea, is Estonia’s fourth largest island and a hidden gem that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Known for its breathtaking landscapes, Muhu is characterised by charming villages, lush forests, and scenic coastlines dotted with traditional wooden houses. Level of Riding and Fitness

The full-day 5-hour rides with picnics are designed exclusively for advanced riders who possess a high level of skill and experience in horseback riding. Participants should be proficient at controlling their horse at all gaitsโ€”walking, trotting, and gallopingโ€”ensuring they can navigate the diverse terrains that Muhu Island has to offer.

Guides and Group Size

All rides are led by experienced local guides, who know the Estonian Native Horse and the islandโ€™s landscape well. The guides speak Estonian and English, and always prioritise safety and a positive connection between horse and rider.

The Horses

Estonian Native Horses, a remarkable breed that perfectly embodies the spirit of Estonia’s natural landscape. These small but sturdy horses are renowned for their sure-footedness and calm temperament, making them the ideal companions for trail riding adventures across the varied terrains of Muhu Island.

Bred over centuries in the Baltic region, they are well-suited to navigate the unique challenges posed by the island’s diverse landscapes, including dense forests, rolling hills, open fields, and uneven surfaces. Their sure-footedness gives riders confidence when traversing rugged paths or crossing natural obstacles, allowing for a smooth and enjoyable riding experience.

Option 1: Modern Retreat (Built in 2010)

All the meals are available by prior arrangement and follow traditional Estonian farmhouse cooking, often featuring local ingredients. The standard menu usually includes meat (pork or chicken), dairy, eggs, reflecting the region’s typical rural cuisine.

A typical breakfast at Tihuse includes:
Bread and sandwich ingredients such as rye bread, butter, ham, cheese, fresh vegetables, porridge, pancakes, and muesli.

Please note that there are only 2 single rooms only available from May to October one of which has a communal bathroom and toilet. If you wish to take a larger bedroom as a single a supplement of 41โ‚ฌ will be charged.

Flights & Transfers

Do NOT book flights until you have received the ‘Booking Confirmation Email’ from saddletravel.com

Please book flights that arrive in Kuressaare (this usually involves changing in Tallin with Flynyx) you may arrive at anytime. However, please note that check into the room is between 4-5pm One the last day check-out is after breakfast 8:30 however, you are welcome to leave your luggage if you choose continue to explore (before your flight) or extend your trip.

Transfer from Kuressaare to Tihuse Ranch 135โ‚ฌ one way (70km)
