Lush green valleys and rugged mountains, sheer cliffs and wild, frothing seas. Galicia, the north-west corner of Spain, is a diverse region, ideal for exploring on horseback. This short break offers 4 nights of Galician hospitality with shorter riding days of betwen 3-5 hours. Open to all riders happy in walk, trot and canter.

You'll be riding through the rural area surrounding the farm. The scenery is mountainous with forests, rivers and cliffs to explore. Galicia is a surprisingly green and lush corner of Spain with a huge diversity of scenery. Riding is at all paces so you should be happy at walk, trot and canter when riding in a small group.

This is a based stay with 3-5 hours of riding a day. There is a mix of terrains on the trails; river valleys, mountain paths, more challenging forested areas with natural obstacles and secondary roads with really rare traffic (maybe a tractor or a cow!).

Nearest Airport:
A Coruña
Day 1

Arrive at A Coruña Airport and meet your driver. 1hr 10 min transfer to your farmhouse accommodation, where you will have time to settle in and explore the facilities before your welcome dinner.

Day 2

After a full breakfast, you will be matched with your horse and have a short introductory ride at the farm to get acquainted with each other. The horses are ridden in bitless bridles, so this will give you a chance to get familiar with the tack. You will then head out on a trail ride to Pesegueiro, through meadows and stone villages. The pace will be varied, and you will be back at the farm in time for lunch. Free afternoon to explore the local area or relax at the farm. Dinner in the tavern.

Day 3

After breakfast you will set off on your guide’s favorite adventure down to the river, where you will enjoy a picnic lunch. The ride usually departs around 11am so you will arrive at the river at around 2pm. There will be time to enjoy a swim before you return back to the farm in time for dinner.

Day 4

Today’s ride will take you to Camino dos Arrieros, where you can experience some fast canters into the mountains! Back in time for lunch, then free time in the afternoon before another fantastic galician dinner.

Day 5

After breakfast, transfer to the airport in time for your flight.

Level of Riding & Fitness

Riders need to be confident at walk, trot and canter and have experience in riding in open spaces. There are approximately 3-5 hours of riding a day, so this is the ideal holiday if you have been out of the saddle for a while or are looking for a more relaxing break.

Riders aged 12+ are very welcome. The weight limit is 90kg.

Guides & Group Size

The groups are kept small, between 2-4 riders, and the pace is tailored to suit the group.

The Horses

The herd includes 11 well-trained horses of different sizes and capabilities. All of the tack is selected considering horse wellness and rider needs. The horses are ridden in either English and western saddles and all are ridden bitless.

Accommodation

You’ll stay at the recently restored farmhouse, which has 3 double rooms with private bathrooms and one apartment with a bathroom and kitchenette (sleeps up to 8px). Enjoy the amazing local food full of flavours and fresh ingredients. Tapas and home-made meals are served in the Tavern daily, which is the onsite bar/restaurant.
