African Explorer
The African Explorer is a horseback safari which encompasses two riding destinations, one in the Waterberg region of Limpopo in South Africa and the other in the ancient and undisturbed landscapes of the Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana. Spread over eight days (seven nights) the safari entails riding first across the game rich plains, wetlands and mountain landscapes in South Africa, and then, once transferred by road to Botswana, along the Limpopo River floodplains and up into the heart of the Mashatu Reserve, with regular sightings of Africaโs most charismatic wildlife species. This combination of an introduction to riding in Africa with non-dangerous game, followed by encounters on horseback with elephant, spotted hyena and often lion, cheetah and leopard, while experiencing two African countries on one safari, has won the African Explorer a global reputation as one of the most accessible and varied riding experiences in Africa.
Agafay Desert Trail
Just a stone’s throw from Marrakech, this unique trip welcomes you with luxurious accommodation and majestic Barb-Arab horses.The magnificent desert landscapes of the High Atlas mountains are perfect for exploring on horseback. The colors of this region gradually change depending on the time of year, going from lush green to hay yellow around October. The landscape will radically change shape as you approach the Agafay desert, the open horizon perfect for letting go of the reins.
Alentejo Beach Trail
Discover the beauty of Portugal’s Atlantic coast on this varied trail, beginning in the lush and green coastal mountains of Grandola before reaching the deserted beaches and lagoons of the Alentejo region. A stable of Lusitano horses await with accommodation in a lovely rural hotel with a swimming pool. A fantastic holiday in the sun for intermediate riders onwards.
Alpine Trails of Slovenia
This exploratory trail is a brand-new itinerary that hasnโt been ridden by SaddleTravel clients before. Itโs offered at a reduced price because it hasnโt yet been fully tested and reviewed in the same way as our established rides. While the riding, accommodation, and logistics have been carefully planned by the local team, there may be small changes or adjustments along the way.
This destination is in the heart of Slovenia at Pule Equestrian Estate, a 17th-century countryside retreat in the rolling hills of Dolenjska, a celebrated wine region. This short break includes four riding sessions where you’ll ride through forests, vineyards, and meadows. Accommodation is in elegant suites with fireplaces and terraces, and the food is all prepared on site, a masterclass in farm-to-table dining paired with local wines. All riding abilities can be accommodated here making it ideal for couples or friends of mixed ability.
Ancient Adventures
This week-long tour will show you the best of Cairo and Luxor with a combination of riding and sight-seeing. Highlights will include a ride at the Pyramids of Giza, desert camping with your horses, a sunset dinner on the Nile and a visit to the Karnak and Luxor Temples. Andalusian Beach Trail – 7 nights
Our popular Andalusian Beach Trail, includes 6 days of riding through the unspoilt landscapes of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, with its open beaches and volcanic mountain paths. The ride will take you along the picturesque coastline, across beautiful beaches and into the fascinating inland valleys. The scenery you will encounter is unlike anything else in Andalusia. The region’s excellent climate, characterised by low rainfall and mild temperatures, allows you to enjoy this experience at any time of the year but is particuarly lovely in the spring and autumn. Hotel accommodation with swimming pools and restaurant dinners completes the experience.
Andalusian Hacienda
A based stay at a hillside ranch in the heart of Andalusia suitable for all levels. Riders can enjoy a mix of lessons and hacking out in the beautiful Andalusian hills. There are activities for non-riders in the local area and riding is available for children from 6 years onwards. Ride through picturesque olive groves and spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool before an early evening lesson at this 16th century hacienda.

Andes Crossing
Dreaming of a great expedition on horseback?
This adventurous expedition on horseback crosses the famous Andes from Argentina to Chile. Follow the route taken by the Army of the Andes during the expedition to liberate Argentina, Chile and Peru from the control of the Spanish crown. This horse trek is a real expedition on horseback, with bivouacs in one of the most remote regions of the world, accessible only on horseback. You will cross the snow-capped peaks of the continent’s highest mountains, clear rivers and valleys of unspoilt nature. This is a completely self-supporting trek, with a new camp site almost every evening, surrounded by exceptional panoramas. A challenge for all riders, this expedition begins in Argentina and ends in Chile, following the traditional route across the Andes.
Avenue of the Volcanoes Trail
A unique adventure in the spectacular Ecuadorian high Andes. This trail takes you through the heart of Ecuadorโs Avenue of the Volcanoes, just 45 minutes south of the historic colonial city of Quito. The perfect trail for riders looking for an adventure in comfort, the traditional hospitality with a touch of luxury at this hacienda is second to none. Running for over a decade, this trail was understandably voted one of the top horse treks in the world by CNN. This trail offers two routes, one of 10 days and another slightly shorter trail of 8 days.
Bay of Somme Trail
Discover northern France on horseback with this four-day adventure through the underrated landscapes of Picardie. Riding Henson horses, a hardy, responsive and willing local breed, youโll explore forests, sand dunes, and open countryside, finishing with exhilarating beach gallops along the Bay of Somme.
Each day brings a new perspective on this remarkable region, from peaceful woodland paths to sweeping coastal views. The route also includes cultural visits to historic castles and elegant gardens, offering a glimpse into Picardieโs rich heritage. Meals are taken in local restaurants – your horses tied up outside as you enjoy traditional French cuisine.

Bordeaux Wine Trail
Ride through the vineyards of Bordeaux, tasting some of the world-famous wines produced in the region: Mรฉdoc, Cรดte de Blaye, Cรดte de Bourg, Bordeaux Supรฉrieur, Lalande-Pomerol, St Emilion and Sauternes to name a few. Wash these down with plenty of local cheeses, meats and potato dauphinoise for a truly indulgent experience combined with fast-paced riding through the quintessentially french countryside.
Brigands Trail
Explore the charm of Tuscany, crossing vast, unspoiled territory without restrictions. Riding alongside lakes and through local villages, your Italian guides at this family-run castle will lead you along some of the hidden trails used by the โBrigandsโ (outlaws) to escape 200 years ago. The riding on this trail is at all paces so you’ll need to be confident cantering in a group on a well schooled horse.
From the top of the castle tower there are 360-degree views across three regions โ Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. This is a vast 250-hectare estate and the land includes woods, gardens with olive trees, and of course incredible riding trails. Alongside the castle is the internationally renowned equestrian centre, with a stable of well trained horses.

Canadian Rockies Lodge Trail
Travel high into the wild mountains and valleys of the Canadian Rockies on this adventurous pack trip in the Banff National Park. This is a pack trip where youโll travel from lodge to lodge with towering snow-capped mountains on three sides. Ideal for all levels of rider, however a good head for heights is necessary, the trail takes you up to over 8,000 ft for some truly spectacular views. A trail for adventurous riders who want to explore the wild-life filled mountains off the beaten track.
Cappadocia Guesthouse Trail
This wonderful, active riding adventure takes you right into the heart of Cappadocia national park. The unique moon-like landscape with its geological wonders of fairy chimneys, lush green canyons and vast high plateaux will take your breath away. Cartagena Beach Trail
Ride through a national parkland full of wildlife, you could spot monkeys, parrots, macaws and toucans, and then onto the spectacular Caribbean coast where you can canter along the waterโs edge on over 10 kilometres of private beach. Following a few days of riding you’ll have the final days out of the saddle where you’ll take a boat trip to the tropical island paradise of Isla Mucura for snokelling and swimming in the warm, crystal clear waters before exploring the old town of Cartagena. Your final night is spent in the historical centre of Cartagena, enjoying live music and local cuisine.
Castle Leslie – Happy Hackers
The Happy Hackers programme at Castle eslie is for anyone who enjoys exploring the countryside on horseback and doesn’t want to do any jumping. The programme consists of two hours trail riding on the estate and a one hour flatwork lesson. You should have riding experience already and be able to control your horse while riding out.ย Castle Leslie Estate and its world class Equestrian Centre is located in County Monaghan and is only 80 minutes from Dublin airport and 60 minutes from Belfast airport. Champagne Trail
For lovers of horses and wine, visit the region of Champagne where you can canter across scenic vineyards, through rural French villages and sip champagne in after a day’s riding. This trail is a fascinating exploration of rural France coupled with excellent riding terrain.
Chateaux of the Loire
The great castles of the Loire Valley are an incredible example of French legacies. Chenonceau, Cheverny, and Chaumont offer examples of the tremendous flowering of French culture during the Renaissance period and can be visited on this seven night trail ride offering fast riding through the royal hunting forests. You will journey across the Loire Valley, stopping at its majestic castles en route. Chianti Hills Trail

Georgiaโs Wild Highlands

Jewel of Risaralda Trail
This 9 day horseback adventure shows you the very best of Risaralda in the heart of the coffee triangle of Colombia. You will ride from the โgreen capital of Colombiaโ โ Marsella, to the thermal springs of Santa Rosa. Traversing the Colombian Andes, an area rich in wildlife, youโll pass coffee farms and endless breathtaking views. Enjoy nights around camp fires, soak in the therapeutic waters of the natural thermal hot pools and discover what makes this part of Colombia so special.
Kings Trail
Experience true Albania on this challenging trail where you’ll begin the week riding in remote and wild mountains with steep downhill sections all the way to the Ionian sea and back.ย Wind your way through a variety of landscapes combining mountain climbing, river crossings, woods and the beach. Kjolur Trail
The Kjรถlur route is an ancient riding trail crossing Icelandโs uninhabited highland, intimately associated with many dramatic events in Icelandic history. Visit the popular attractions of Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir hot springs before heading to the interior of Iceland, passing glaciers, hot springs and the fascinating wilderness of the highlands.
Lake Ranch
Come and stay at a real working ranch. Lake Ranch covers 30,000 acres of the North-East region of Wyoming in the famous Black Hills, not far from Montana and South Dakota borders. The ranch has around 100 horses, 1200 cattle and an abundance of wildlife, including pronghorns, deers, raccoons, marmots, beavers and prairie dogs. Get stuck in with cattle work, visit local rodeos and enjoy trail rides in the vast wilderness surrounding the ranch.
Land of the Thracians
This fun ride is run by experienced tour guide and vet Bogdan Syarov. The Thracian Valley is an ideal location for riding with smooth, picturesque terrain of rose and lavender fields which allow for a faster pace. The trail combines plenty of canters and amazing scenery with ancient Thracian and Roman ruins along the way, delicious wines and spa opportunities thanks to the healing mineral springs. Accommodation is comfortableย and you will often have access to a swimming pool, sauna or spa at your hotels.
Leopard Safari
